Context

Context

The homepage is a primary acquisition and re-engagement channel for Virgin Voyages. Returning users arrive with promotional awareness and high intent, expecting immediate clarity around pricing, destinations, and availability. Homepage 3.0 repositioned the experience from a brand-forward scroll into a structured booking gateway — balancing inspiration with transactional clarity.

Problem

Problem

The previous experience was immersive but cognitively dense. Promotional stacking, long-scroll layouts, and unclear discount mechanics created friction for high-intent users attempting to evaluate pricing and begin booking.

Key Design Decisions

Key Design Decisions

Key Design Decisions

Booking-First Hero Architecture

Embedded destination, region, and travel date filters directly within the hero (“Super Button”) to initiate voyage search immediately.

  • Filter interactions open a modal selection flow

  • Clear “Book” CTA signals entry into the booking funnel

  • Designed to function as a persistent booking anchor This reduced ambiguity around where to begin and shortened the path to results.

Sticky Booking Bar

Introduced a persistent booking bar that remains accessible as users scroll.

  • Keeps voyage search one tap away

  • Allows filter adjustments without restarting the journey

  • Maintains conversion visibility throughout long-scroll storytelling

This ensured promotional sections never disconnected from booking intent.

Value Transparency System

Elevated the “All-In Voyage Pricing Includes” section with icon-based clarity and a dedicated “What’s Included” CTA.

  • Surfaced tangible inclusions (WiFi, dining, fitness, entertainment)

  • Reduced ambiguity around discount mechanics

  • Supported deeper navigation for price-sensitive users

This directly addressed recurring testing feedback around pricing confusion.

Tabbed Wayfinding & Guided Exploration

Implemented structured tab systems across key sections (cruise categories, amenities, regions).

  • Reduced vertical overload

  • Showed breadth without overwhelming

  • Encouraged interaction over passive scrolling

Tabs provided progressive disclosure while maintaining clarity.
